DOESN'T "A LA MODE" MEAN WITH ICE CREAM?
Here's your history lesson for the day: "a la mode" is a French term meaning "in a fashionable or modern style." In the late 1800s, putting ice cream on apple pie became the popular (or fashionable) way to serve pie -- hence, apple pie a la mode. Over the years, everyone just assumed it meant with ice cream.
WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH PASTA?!
Pasta A La Mode is fresh pasta fusion. We take iconic flavors from other cultures and transform them into pasta dishes using local ingredients and handmade pasta. It’s a modern twist on a classic and what’s more a la mode or “fashionable” than that?
AREN'T PEOPLE STILL GOING TO THINK ABOUT ICE CREAM?
Well, we thought about that too and wondered how we correct the misconception of the term. Then it hit us… if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. We’ll serve our pasta in a cone and play into the association. Little did we know at the time of inception that a cone is the perfect vessel in which to eat pasta! It perfectly cradles the noodles and allows for the best fork swirls! (Don’t worry, we have cups too for you anti-coners.)
